Emerging Agricultural Entrepreneur

Emerging Agricultural Entrepreneur

The agriculture sector, contributing more than one third of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employing two-thirds of the country's labor force, is central to the livelihood of every Nepalese person. The agriculture sector is pivotal in increasing income, alleviating poverty and uplifting the living standards of the Nepalese people. However, the performance of this sector has been inadequate to meet the increasing food demand and livelihood needs of the growing population in the country. Agricultural entrepreneurship is an emerging field. It involves analyzing and understanding the strategies of agricultural entrepreneurs, particularly in response to the institutional changes and economic and technological disruptions to which the agricultural industry is subject. Despite the increase in the number and diversity of publications, there is a need for a better understanding of agricultural entrepreneurship dynamics from the entrepreneurial theory viewpoint (beyond rural sociology and agricultural economics). A literature review identifies the main themes hitherto dealt with, as well as avenues for future research. This special issue partly responds to the need to investigate the entrepreneurial process in agriculture, whether in the development of collective projects, understanding entrepreneurial action, the effects of the business environment on entrepreneurial orientation, or the question of gender and rural development policies.A recent study by FRTC (2019) revealed that cultivated land occupies 21.88 percent of total land in Nepal. Therefore, it is very challenging for agricultural entrepreneur to determine the types of crops they can grow in their local areas and its demand in the market. We are helping these entrepreneurs to determine the type of crops they can grow and find a potential market for them. We offer our support in the following sections:

  • Training
  • Providing Seeds, Plant, Fertilizer and Pesticide
  • Tissue culture and laboratory testing
  • Finding potential market and buy back guarantee
  • Financial support such as loan
